How It Works
Three steps, and the first one is free.
Starting care should not feel like a leap of faith. Here is exactly what happens, in order, from your first call to a caregiver walking through the door.
- 01
A free phone consultation, then in the home
A short phone intake starts with the immediate situation, timing, and the questions keeping you up at night. Then we come to you. We listen to what is actually going on — the medical side, but also the practical and awkward parts families do not always say out loud. We walk the house looking for trip hazards, poor lighting, and missing grab rails, and we answer your questions about cost and scheduling before you commit to anything. There is no obligation and nothing to sign.
- 02
A care plan built around your routine
We write a plan around the life already being lived: when they wake, what they eat, which day the family visits, what they still want to do for themselves. You approve it before anything starts, and it changes as needs change — plans that cannot flex are plans that stop fitting within a month.
- 03
A caregiver matched to the person
We match on skills and on personality, because the best-qualified caregiver in the world is the wrong one if the two of them do not get along. You meet your caregiver before care begins. Ongoing supervision keeps the plan, schedule, and match under review after care starts. If the match is not right, we change it — no awkwardness, no argument.
Common questions
The things families ask first.
What is the difference between non-medical home care and home health care?
Home health care is clinical. It is usually ordered by a doctor and delivered by nurses or therapists — wound care, injections, physical therapy.
Non-medical home care, which is what we provide, is help with everyday living: bathing, dressing, meals, housework, driving, company, and supervision. No prescription is needed and you do not have to be ill to qualify.
Many families use both at once. We work alongside a home health team without duplicating what they do.
How much does in-home care cost?
Cost depends on how many hours you need, what kind of help is involved, and whether any of it is overnight. You pay for the hours you use — there is no package to buy into.
We will give you a clear hourly rate and a written estimate at the free consultation, before you commit to anything. For most families, part-time in-home care costs considerably less than residential care.
Does Medicare pay for this?
Generally no. Standard Medicare does not cover non-medical help with daily living, which surprises most families.
What often does help: long-term care insurance, VA benefits such as Aid and Attendance for veterans and surviving spouses, some Medicare Advantage plans with supplemental benefits, and Medicaid for those who meet the financial and functional criteria.
We will walk you through which of these might apply to your situation.
How quickly can care start?
Often within a few days of the consultation, and faster in urgent situations such as a hospital discharge. Call and tell us the timeline you are working with.
Do you only care for seniors?
No. Roughly half our clients are older adults. The rest include adults with mental and physical disabilities, people in recovery after surgery or injury, and new parents who need support at home.
Can we choose the caregiver?
You meet your caregiver before care starts, and if the match is not right we will change it. We match on personality as well as skill because that is what determines whether someone actually looks forward to the visit.
